JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
The Sr. Database Administrator is responsible for managing, monitoring and maintaining assigned databases and their operating system/CPU/memory/storage resources, as well as to ensure availability and performance complies with TriNet’s expectations. This position is also responsible for overseeing both the tactical and strategic operations of the TriNet hosting production environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide engineering, installation, configuration, maintenance and support in a 24/7 support environment
• Monitor designated applications and take corrective action to prevent or minimize system down time.
• Perform the capacity planning required to create and maintain the Databases, working closely with system administration staff and other Database Administrators
• Install/Upgrade database software, patches
• Manage users and passwords on the databases
• Apply standards to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance.
• Work closely with software engineering teams to review application design and code frequently to ensure that standards are being adhered to.
• Work closely with database vendors to seek support for technical issues
• Become Subject Matter Expert on all TriNet hosted software products
• Provide technical solutions and escalated support for non-routine, highly complex technical issues
• Build /create / refresh / move databases as required
• Configure solutions for High Availability, Load balancing and fail over support
• Develop and analyze highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks and tune the databases using traditional techniques and tools like Oracle enterprise manager, TOAD, AWR etc.
• Secure all databases by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation
• Follow disaster recovery policies and procedures; complete back-ups; maintain documentation.
• Maintain documentation on physical and logical layout and assets of the technical architectures to maximize availability and reliability
• Work closely with multiple departments as well as provide detailed status reports on assigned projects and ongoing support for assigned systems and applications
• Implement changes into production environments to support change management and release scheduling
• Ensure performance of systems meet expected Service Level Agreements
• Coordinate efforts during production outages
• Work with other internal teams on root cause analysis and resolution
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion.


JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree, or educational equivalent, in computer science or information technology field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred:
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): None
Training/Certification Desired (one or more of the following):
• OCA/OCP
• AWS

Experience (one or more of the following strongly preferred):
• Significant Experience with tuning database/query performance using various tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager, AWR, Resource Manager, Database Services in both traditional servers as well as with High Availability systems like Exadata, RAC, Global Data Services etc
• Significant Experience with installing, configuring monitoring tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager and setting up appropriate monitoring thresholds and linking them to other third party ticketing and notification and paging tools like ServiceNow

• Experience with DBMS Software installation and upgrade process, including Oracle, Informix, MS SQLServer, MongoDB
• Experience in storage management systems like Clusterware, ASM
• Experience with replication tools like Oracle Data Guard Broker, GoldenGate etc.
• Experience with programming languages like SQL, PL/SQL; C, C++, Java, ASP, HTML, XML; development experience preferred
• Experience with TOAD, SQL Plus, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Grid-control
• Experience with cloud computing concepts, tools, services
• Experience with Database As A Service concepts and mechanisms
• Experience with Shell Scripting, Perl, Linux, UNIX, Windows, and Networking
• Experience with database object version control mechanisms
• Experience with database backup/recovery tools like RMAN
• Experience with disaster recovery solutions and operations
• Experience with database administration of Oracle, MongoDB, Informix, SQLServer, PostGres databases.
• Experience with other third party development and database administration tools e.g. SQL Navigator, Toad
• Design/Engineering experience in all layered Products in a multi-tiered web environment and understanding the interaction between each tier
• Experience using Support tools like ServiceNow, PagerDuty etc.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Excellent Team Work
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, both verbally and in writing
• Strong working knowledge on Oracle Support processes for technical requests resolution
• Strong Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to coordinate with multiple IT and Business stakeholders
• Ability to efficiently work on multiple complex projects or assignments concurrently.
• Ability to think logically and analytically
• Knowledge of Privileged Access Management tools like BeyondTrust, SailPoint etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHER INFORMATION (Travel required, physical requirements, on-call schedules, etc.)
• Minimal travel required
• Work in clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting (Or from home office )
• Required to participate in an on-call rotation
