The Director of Renewal Pricing will manage all medical, dental and vision renewals for all Exchanges. This position will be responsible for analyses of existing medical, dental and vision plan designs and plan performance across all TriNet exchanges. Responsibilities will include implementation of industry-standard renewal procedures as well as optimization of plan offerings to ensure congruency across various carriers, exchanges, optimized plan financial performance, competitor offerings, and ongoing regulatory-driven plan updates. The position will also interface with new business pricing to ensure optimal management of in-force vs. new business plan relativity dynamics. This position will be both internal and external facing, meeting with clients to educate, review, and discuss pricing. This position will prepare and update detailed underwriting exhibits for each carrier renewal, including quarterly carrier renewals and advise the Open Enrollment teams on the appropriate renewal actions. The Director of Renewal Pricing will work closely with the Chief Actuary, the VP of Benefits Management, and the Executive Director of Open Enrollment. Additionally, this position will prepare summary exhibits for Finance, primarily the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) and the CFO. 

• Responsible for implementation of an industry-standard rate-to-manual / actuarial credibility client medical renewal process for TriNet.
• Responsible for optimization of existing medical, dental and vision plans to achieve Company growth and financial goals, specifically to include:
• Congruency of plan designs and rate relationships between various carriers and across all TriNet exchanges
• Optimization of renewal plan price relativities vs. new business plan relativities
• Review illustrative carrier renewal exhibits and manage carrier negotiations.
• Responsible for preparing carrier Underwriting (UW) exhibits prior to Open Enrollment and communicating renewal and trend results to Insurance Services, Finance and other key stakeholders.
• Update UW exhibits monthly and demonstrate changes in trend/experience that may drive deviations from the original renewal.
• Evaluate and analyze the results of the benefits programs and report these results to the Chief Actuary and SVP of Insurance Services.
• Work with the management team to develop and implement health plan strategy that meets the needs of our customers and Sales team.
• Foster and maintain ongoing relationships with existing health plan vendors and prospective vendors (i.e. Carriers).
• Successfully engage with TriNet’s large customers to review trends and utilization metrics.
• Assist with the administration and execution of health plan contracts and agreements.
• Monitor the financial results of health plan programs and assist the Chief Actuary in forecasting results and preparation of annual budget.
• Maintain knowledge of and analyze government regulations, benefit program trends, and prevailing practices among similar organizations.
• Create and update carrier specific and quarterly specific renewal underwriting exhibits.
• Provide any plan re-sloping recommendations.
• Analyze actuarial values and plan relativities.
• Assist with coordinating transfer of data to external vendors, plan providers, auditors, and consultants to ensure accuracy.
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion.

• Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred.

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):
ASA (Associate, Society of Actuaries) but not a requirement

• Required: 6-8 years of management medical underwriting experience, including the administration of benefits plans in a large group environment.
• Preferred: Experience working in a Benefits department for a Health Insurance Carrier
• Proven ability to interact with large customers and present renewal actions

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with SAS and other BI tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
• Ability to successfully communicate and meet with external clients, vendors, carriers, etc
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
• A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
• Ability to adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment while managing multiple priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
