JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
The Director, Payroll Tax Reporting, is responsible for the operations of the payroll tax reporting team and the tax solutions team, ensuring all payroll tax payments, returns and W2’s/W2C’s are processed and remitted/filed timely and accurately. Keys to success in this role are:
- meet required payment and reporting due dates and service level agreements
- no SOX deficiencies
- communicate effectively and influence without authority
- work and collaborate with all business partners and teams to drive client retention
- drive continuous improvement and results through automation and elimination of inefficient processes
- team engagement and development

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the day to day operations of the payroll tax reporting team and the tax solutions team.
• Ensure all payroll tax related payments and returns are remitted and filed timely and accurately.
• Ensure W2’s are accurate, processed timely and remitted to the appropriate agencies by the required due dates. Process W2C’s as required.
• Ensure all SOX controls are executed timely with evidence of execution documented appropriately.
• Ensure “best practices” for the tax reporting software are strictly adhered to and kept current.
• Support tax updates and year end testing.
• Provide strong and effective leadership across teams through collaboration, communication, problem solving, innovation, strategy, execution and results.
• Work effectively with others to meet goals and objectives by developing and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external partners.
• Support clients and business partners by providing accurate, relevant and timely data.
• Support customer engagement teams by participating in client calls and resolving client payroll tax issues.
• Effectively collaborate with upstream business partners to remediate processes that cause payroll tax and W2 errors.
• Drive improvement, simplification and automation across the payroll tax reporting team by building scalable work processes and eliminating inefficiencies.
• Translate ideas and concepts into practical applications and generate new ideas that add value.
• Drive team engagement and accountability.
• Develop direct reports by maintaining and supporting a continuous learning culture and by providing the team opportunities to improve and expand their skill set.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting. MBA preferred.
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): CPP preferred.
Experience:
• 10+ years’ experience in payroll and payroll tax reporting for federal, state, and local jurisdictions including working in a large, complex multi-state environment and communicating with tax jurisdiction representatives.
• 8+ years leading and developing large, high performing teams.
• Multi-state PEO experience preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of both state and federal payroll tax laws.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
• A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
• Ability to adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Proficient in PeopleSoft, MasterTax and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting for payroll tax liabilities.

• Minimal travel may be required.
